Happy bithday! I'm glad the guy who accidently set his house on fire while he was trying to set his neighbors houses on fire wasn't you! (It was in Downey, CA, and you're the only person I know in Downey, CA. Wait a minute, I think the guy died. It's probably not a good idea to make offhanded jokes about dead people.)

It's a well-documented fact that ghosts are primarily comprised of dead folks about whom offhanded jokes were made.
...especially the really annoying ghosts who hide your car keys from you on the morning before that big interview.
...but if the dead person was a firebug in real life like this guy his ghost just gives you athlete's foot--the kind that really itches and burns.
So no, it's not a good idea to make offhanded jokes!
